About the Book

What America needs today are parents who don’t just say they value these virtues but who live them and passionately and boldly teach them to their children. It’s up to me and you and every parent in America to make the necessary changes to give our children the opportunity to change the world. We do that by instilling good character traits in them so that they will be capable of being the adults our world needs.
~ Korie Robertson
In Strong and Kind Korie Robertson—with the help of her mom, Chrys Howard, and with insights and stories from her husband, Willie—introduces nine character traits that children need in order to lead a successful life. And though there are no perfect parents or perfect children, Korie shares principles—based on biblical wisdom and time-tested practices—that will help you parent your own one-of-a-kind child.

Chrys Howard

Chrys Howard, the mother of Duck Dynasty’s, Korie Robertson, claims she really did have a life before Duck Dynasty; sometimes it's just hard to remember what it was. She holds a degree in elementary education and spent 10 years teaching children with learning differences. After teaching, she joined the family-owned business, Howard Publishing, where she served as senior editor and creative director. She has authored a number of books, including the best-selling Hugs for Daughters and Motivationals for Moms, and she co-authored the New York Timesbestseller Miss Kay's Duck Commander Cookbook, Everything's Better with a Beard, D is for Duck Calls and The Faith Commander church curriculum. Chrys has spent more than 30 years working with Christian youth camps; speaking to women’s groups; teaching Bible classes to children, teens, and young adults; and traveling overseas for mission efforts. She is married to John Howard, and has three grown children and 13 adorable grandchildren and lives next door to Korie and Willie in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Willie Robertson

Willie Robertson, CEO and resident prankster of Duck Commander, has taken the company from a living room operation to a premiere destination for all-things outdoors. In 2006 he expanded the family's brand to include more than just duck calls with the launch of Buck Commander. As one of the executive producers of A&E’s hit TV series “Duck Dynasty” and “Buck Commander”, Willie is able to combine his passion for the outdoors with his natural ability to entertain. While the Robertson’s story is a great example of entrepreneurship and dedication, it's also about love, faith and putting family first. Willie makes his home in West Monroe, Louisiana, with his wife, Korie and their children: John Luke, Sadie, Will, Bella, and a foster daughter, Rebecca.
